“Think Of The Poor And Needy!”(Lev.19:9-12).
One time I berated my wife for leaving crops to waste in the farm and be eaten by wild animals. She responded that those animals are also God’s creation who need to be fed. They do not work. It is our responsibility to care for them. I was humbled by her response.
We have a common parlance, “Nothing for the poor?” The Israelites were given a divine instruction not to go through the fields again to harvest whatever was left unharvested during the first harvest. Whatever was bypassed during the first harvest was to be left for the poor and the alien.
Today not all of us do farming, but what is intended here is that in your abundance, think of the poor and needy people around you. Let love be actionable.
Besides, “Do not steal. Do not lie. Do not deceive one another.” And do not swear falsely by God’s name, for that will be a profanation of his name.
It is easy to lie and swear falsely that you do not have enough to share with others, just like Ananias and Saphira did.
Dear friend, God has blessed you abundantl. Share with others who do not have. Afterall, scripture assures that “it is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Prayer of the day and week: Holy Spirit prompt me this day to reach out to the needy around me. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
