“Run On Your Lane; Know Your Limit!” (Jn.3:22-30).
People with weak dispositions allow the jealousy of their over zealous aides-de-camp to ruin their relationships. Never act by the influence of henchmen whose hidden agendas are camouflaged in a show of concern for you.
Due to an argument John’s disciples came to him and said, ” Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan – the one you testified about – well, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.” “Well, he is baptizing and everyone is going to him,” smacks of envy. Despite the fact that they were well aware that their master testified about Jesus, they were jealous that everyone was going to Jesus for baptism and no longer coming to their master! They even addressed him, “that man!”
We do not have to be jealoused or envious because somebody is pulling the crowd away from our master. When your aides-de-camp demonstrates such jealousy, just say, “live and lets live,” do not join your henchmen to redirect the crowd to your direction. Afterall, a man can only receive whst is given to him from heaven.
John the baptist was a man who was focused on his mission. He was aware that the ear cannot grow above the head.
John told his disciples, “A man can receive only what is given to him from heaven. You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Christ but am sent ahead of him’…He must become greater; I must become less.”
Indeed, we become greater when we become less for the deserving to become greater. Of John Jesus said, “I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he”(Mt.11:11).
Dear friend, acknowledging the greatness of those who deserve it does not make you less important. John was joyful about Jesus becoming greater while he John became less. But Jesus on his part declared that among those born of women there is none greater than John. Even then, the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than John.
Therefore, if you are seeking greatness be humble and let grace take you into the kingdom of heaven.
Prayer: Lord open my eyes to recognise that I can receive only what is given to me from heaven. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
