“Lord Jesus Christ Open My Mind To Understand The Scriptures!”
When the teaching of the Scripture is ignored believers swim in the pool of ignorance. As they drown in such ignorance they tend to catch at any straw which appears strong by its roots: that is half truths based on preachers’ scriptural inclinations.
Knowledge is progressive, but however it progresses it must rely on the foundational truth. After his resurrection Jesus appeared to his disciples and “opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures…’This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day(cf. Isa.53) and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name in all nations…I am going to send you what my Father has promised…”(Lk.24:36-49).
The prediction of the death and resurrection of Jesus entails a necessary human response which is repentance and the resulting benefit is forgiveness.
For the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ to impact humanity there is need to emphasise the preaching of repentance whose outcome is the forgiveness of sins by God; not by some human demigods!
Jesus promised to send what the Father promised, the Holy Spirit so that we should “be clothed with power from on high(cf. Jl.2:28-32).
Dear friend, the risen Lord Jesus Christ is calling all of us to listen to the preaching of his resurrection power and respond with repentance so that we can be forgiven. Be open-minded as Jesus opens your mind to understand the Scriptures.
Prayer: Holy Spirit lead me to be open-minded as Jesus opens my mind to understand the Scriptures. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
