“LOrd, Forgive Our Wickedness And Our Sin…”(Ex.34:4-10).
In a fit of rage Moses destroyed the first two stone tablets on which the Ten Commandments were writren (Ex.32:19). We can say this was the first Bible. Moses’ anger was provoked by the golden calf which the people had coerced Aaron to make for them as their god when Moses was up the mountain.
However, the merciful and compassionate God asked Moses to chisel out two other stones on which he the LORD wrote on them the same words as it was in the first.
The LORD did this because he is “the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and for giving wickedness, rebellion and sin…” What a loving Father we have in the LORD!
However, a good father disciplines waywardness in his children for their own good. “He does net leave the guilty unpunished…”
Despite this sin of idolatory Moses pleaded with the LORD, O LORD…although this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our wickedness and our sin and take us as your inheritance.”
The LORD heard Moses and promised to do wonders to the people. Wonders never before done in any nation in the world.
He fulfilled this promise through the incarnation of his Son who is our salvation.
No matter how grevious your sins may be, turn to the LORD and ask his forgiveness. He will hear you and answer you. He will not keep a record of your sins, but he says, “Go and sin no more!” As a nation it is time we acknowledge that we have angered the LORD enough to attract his anger. Let us turn and ask for his forgiveness.
Prayer of the week: LORD forgive our wickedness and sin, and take us as your inheritance. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
