“Come To Jesus…!”(Mk.1:32-34).
If somebody kicks your buttocks it means you are in front of him. Being in front here is a mark of superiority over the person behind. Kicking your buttocks being the spill over effect of envy or outright hatred.
Our Lord Jesus Christ “healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.”
Jesus had power over the demons and that is why he was able to drive them out. But he did not want them to make him popular by revealing his identity when it was not yet the time.
Laterly Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do people say I am?” They replied that “some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.” Then he asked them, “But what about you? Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.” We are told that “Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him”(Mk.9:27-30).
This “Hidden Messianic concept” was to ensure that Jesus’ real identity as the Christ should be publicised only after he had accomplished his mission.
You know how people like to claim relationship with dignitaries! The demons were proned to such vain glories of claiming relationship. Once the opportunity availed itself you heard them shouting bla bla bla!
Jesus did not want a repeat of what had happened earlier on when a demon identified him and cried out, “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are – the Holy One of God!” Jesus said to him sternly, “Be quiet! Come out of him!”(Mk.1:24).
When we apply the Jesus model, then we do not need to hold a microphone on camera to a demon asking, “What is your name? Where are you from? How many of you are there? Etc! Etc!”
Dear friend, the enemies know your worth and how powerful you are! Do not go for cheap popularity by giving them room to publicise who you are. Cast out the demons in them, rebuke them to silence until you have fulfilled your task.
When popular opinion held that sickness was a result of sin, Jesus ignored the sin and healed the sick. Therefore, to all the sick and the demon-possessed, come to Jesus Christ and receive healing! And to all who are weary and heavy ladden, come to him and have some rest! But you must first know who Jesus truly is before you solicit him.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ thank you for being my healer and the source of rest for my weary soul. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
