“A Willing Response…!”
“The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord.”
Poor giving for any Christian commitment stems from the willing commitment of the leaders. Giving for the advancement of God’s work is an imperative.
We began this online ministry some time back in 2014. Some of you are now Top Fans as classified by Facebook. Has it ever touched your mind that you should support the ministry with internet bundle?
We are in the season of Harvest Thanksgiving. It is a season when you hear all kinds of arguments why people shouldn’t be assessed or tasked. The painful part is when the leaders like group leaders, elders, pastors etc are the first persons to complain. Leaders must be pacesetters. You do not ask people to give if you do not set the pace.
When David asked for gifts for the building of the temple, “the leaders of families, the officials of the tribes of Israel, the commanders…and the officials…gave willingly”
The reason for negatively thrifty and miserly giving is when we fail to recognise the source of our blessings. In his thanksgiving prayer king David recognized that, everything comes from God and we give to him only what comes from him. Our lives on earth are like a fleeting shadow. “all this abundance that we have provided…it all comes from your hand, and all of it belongs to you…”(I Chron.29:9-20).
Yes, the Lord tests the heart and is pleased with integrity. The Lord wants us to give willingly and with thankful hearts. He has offered to us and for us his Most Precious Possession, Jesus Christ. Nothing you give back to God can measure up to what he has given to you.
My friend, we are not asking you to sow a seed, no! We are saying that it is good to give as a willing response as in giving to him only what comes from his hands.
Weekend prayer: Father thank you for giving so much to me. Holy Spirit help me to give in thankfulness as a willing response. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
Babila Fochang.
