“Let Love Lead Until The Day Of The LORD!”(Rom.13:8-15).
Dear LORD, as I wake up to continue my pilgrim’s journey be my guide and guard!
It is said that Saint Francis of Assisi was hoeing his garden and was asked what he would do if he knew the world would end tomorrow. He replied, “Continue hoeing my garden.”
I asked Google the question, “What would you do if you knew you were to die tomorrow?” It turns out that over the years so many people have asked the same question to themselves, and there are many interesting answers.
It is a question of introspection on the realities of life. We sometimes behave as if we own the future. The truth is that there may not be any tomorrow for me or you.
Weekends in the villages are packed full with funeral services left and right. Have you ever thought that tomorrow it may be other people attending your funeral?
The metaphysical poet, John Donne said when he hears the tolling of the bell announcing the death of somebody, he is reminded that that bell is tolling for him because he is part of humanity.
The author of the letter to the Romans reminds us that our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. Therefore, “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. The commandments, ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not covet,’ and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.”
Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me to live this day as if there is no tomorrow. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
