“No Easy Walk; No Smooth Sailing!”(II Cor.6:1-13).
Life’s challenges sometimes sow a seed of doubt and we wonder whether there is any reason to want to be here. But then we hear the comforting assuring words of the Lord, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness”(II Cor.12:9a).
Therefore, as we step out to continue this journey of life, we pray “not to receive God’s grace in vain.” No matter the odds we know now is the time of your favor and the day of your salvation.
How do we receive God’s grace in vain? We receive God’s grace in vain when our preoccupation is about ourselves. We are reminded that Christ died for all, “that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again”(II Cor.5:15).
To this end, we step out hoping for the best, yet with the awareness that bad weather often surprise us despite all meteorological assurances to the contrary.
Whatever we face in life, we should wish even our enemies well and not being a stumbling block on anyone’s path. That would be discrediting our own labour in the Lord’s vineyard.
My candle won’t shine brighter if I blow out your own. In everything, whether in good, fair or bad weather, we commend ourselves to the Holy Spirit. There is nothing to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
In our service to the Lord we may make our own mistakes, but we do all within our means to open our hearts wide to our Christians and not withholding our affection from them; even when they withhold theirs from us.
My friend, service is sacrifice in the midst of severe challenges and opposition! But we stand on that blessed assurance, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Yes, there is no easy walk, there is no smooth sailing to the other side.
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit help us not to put a stumbling block on anyone’s path but to open wide our hearts and not withhold our affection. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
