“Make A Shout Of Faith!”(Lk.18:35-43).
LORD, I step out this day in confidence of your promise: “For I know the plans I have for you…plans to give you hope and a future”(Jer.29:11).
A blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. He heard a crowd going by. He asked to know what was happening. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” He must have heard enough stories about Jesus of Nazareth. He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
The pathfinders rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
His shouts didn’t go unnoticed by Jesus. “Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him.”
He asked the man, “What do you want me to do for you?” The man replied, “Lord, I want to see.” “Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.”
Churchiness was not a requirement for his healing! The blind man acted on the spur of the moment! He set his agenda and ignored the rebuke of the naysayers who tried to silence him.
The expectation of the naysayers was that he wanted alms from Jesus. The man, however, identified Jesus as someone who was able to give him his sight. He asked Jesus to have mercy on him and give him his sight. This was faith in action! Faith that healed him.
My friend, an english adage, says, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” Yes; “If you don’t risk anything, you won’t gain anything.” The idea of spending more time in prayer and churchiness is not what the Lord Jesus Christ prescribes for his disciples.
The reward of churchiness is the same as the reward of those who in Greek mythology were enchanted by the songs of the sirens.
We walk in the strength of the Lord by working in the strength of the Lord.
My friend, as you step out, let your faith lead you into action that is affirmed by the Lord Jesus Christ! And may you thereafter sing the praise of God; and others will join you in that praise of the wonders of God’s grace through Christ.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and give me that which is needful. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
