“Praise The LORD, O My Soul…!”(Ps.104:27-35).
Back in the days when we were students of the then Presbyterian Theological College, Kosala, our music teacher was the late Sir Elonge. I recall one of his memorable composition which he taught us. The song starts something like, “Kurung, kurung, kong, kong, kong, kuruunng…” According to the composer the song is a parody of the noise made by a woodpecker when it is pecking a hole on a tree.
This reminds me of the line in a song by the Christian Youth Fellowship(CYF): “Animals and birds are praising God. Why not you of his image? Praise the Lord and glorify his name…” Yes, praise is going to be the only vocation, the only profession, the only work we will be doing in heaven.
Even animals and birds all look to God “to give them their food at the proper time.” You see, a little boy prayed, “Lord, you promised me my daily bread. I want it now!” Like the little boy we more often than not want it now, instead of waiting on God for him to give us “at the proper time.” God’s time is not chronological time. God’s time is “Kairos” – the right time. God’s right time is the proper time at which he does what he says he will do.
It is good to wait on God’s proper time. He is neither late nor early. He is always on time. Due to his goodness, love, mercy and compassion, we are surrounded by everything that we need which becomes ours at the right time.
Like the psalmist let us make God’s praise a vocation. The psalmist says, “I will sing to the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. May my meditation be pleasing to him, as I rejoice in the Lord… Praise the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD.”
Yes, let us give to our God immortal praise for the wonders of grace which belong to him.
Prayer:We praise and glorify your name O God of all creation. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
Rev Babila Fochang.
