“Celebrate The Lord’s Presence With Songs!”
When the death of a certain king was anounced the citizens jubilated on the streets. King Saul was one such king who during his reign did not inquire of God through the ark of God. David decided it should not be so. He was a king with a difference in that he “conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds…” before he took such a major decision. David did not just order for what should be done for that would have been despotism. Rather he suggested to them and to the whole assembly of Israel, including the priests and Levites, “If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the Lord our God…”
We are told “the whole assembly agreed to do this, because it seemed right to all the people.”
Thus when ark was brought up from Abinadab’s house “David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with” all commonly used musical instruments (I Chron.13:1-8).
There was every reason for the people to celebrate with all their might before God. It was not just the joy of the ark being brought but also the fact that the king involved them in the decision making.
Sometimes a people suffer calamities because the leaders have ignored to seek God’s face in decision-making.
On the other hand a good king loses nothing when he consults with those within the lower rungs. Rather such consultations gain him the respect of his subjects and avoids anarchy.
When one of the great preachers of our time said, Cameroon should keep God he wasn’t insinuating that God was absent. Rather that if we fail to keep him, he may journey on.
Let us bring God to where we can inquire of him before taking decisions and the people will celebrate with all their might before God.
Prayer: Lord we celebrate your presence in our midst. May we enquire of you always before deciding and acting upon the decisions. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
