“Whatever The Situation Remain Firm In The Lord!”
It was another heavenly gathering and Satan was present. God told Satan that Job “still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.” Satan did not give up. He told God, “A man will give away all he has for his own life. But…strike his flesh and bones and he will surely curse you to your face.” Satan was again permitted to inflict Job with all kinds of diseases but to spare his life. Satan even used Job’s wife as a last weapon. Job’s wife said to him, “Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die!”
Job’s response to his wife is the greatest lesson for all times when we are reduced from grace to grass. “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” Job refused to turn his back on God all through his troubles. It is true that as the story unfolded Job questioned God, complained to him, accused him and appealed to him, still he “did not sin in what he said”(Jb.2:1-10).
Job’s response to his wife is a reminder to all of us who enjoy grace that the very God who raised us from grass to grace can bring us down from grace to grass just to let Satan know that his faithful ones will maintain their integrity under any condition.
The story of Job has a happy ending as “the Lord blessed the later part of his life more than the first…”(Jb.42:12ff).
Bottomline: Your financial, social or political status or your health condition should not influence your spiritual standing with God. In every situation give thanks for such is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. When you were abundantly blessed you did not ask, “Lord why me?” So when hard times strike do not ask, “Lord why me?”
Prayer: Holy Spirit teach me to accept from the Lord whatever and whenever he decides, knowing that it is all for my good. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
