“Victory Is Ours; Satan Is Already Fallen!”
The fact that majority carries the vote does not make it right. It is wrong to side with the wrong majority!
When Jesus began his ministry, his family said, “He is out of his mind.” He was acting out of expected societal and religious norms. The teachers of the law from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the Prince of demons he is driving out demons.” Jesus went against the tide! But was he wrong? According to them he was wrong! They were saying, “He has an evil spirit.”
If as they said, he was driving out demons by the Prince of demons, then something was wrong in the demonic kingdom. I like the way Jesus received their jibes: “…He called them and spoke to them in parables: ‘How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. In fact, no-one can enter a strong man’s house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house…'”(Mk. 3:19b-27).
The stage was already being set to scapegoat Jesus. He didn’t make sense to anybody; not even his own family members! He was a persona non grata!
Messengers of the gospel of truth are always the targets of elimination. In his day when they plotted against Jeremiah, the Lord revealed it to him. He was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter without him realising it.
Like Jeremiah when faced with the threats to life it is enough to look up to God and pray, “O Lord Almighty, you who judge righteously and test the heart and mind…to you I have committed my cause”(11:18-20).
My friend, “purify yourself by obeying the truth” so that you cannot be tossed around by every wind of change! Satan is fallen and victory belongs to those who stand firm on the Lord’s side! It is better to be considered a madman for Jesus than to be applauded as a sane person on the side of Satan!
Prayer: Lord may your word abide with us even when we are seen as mad people. Amen!
Happy and blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
