“Return To The Lord, He Has Redeemed You!”
Back in the days those of us who belong to the “old skul” used to remain outside after being beaten for having committed an offense. We would stay outside till nightfall. We would be scared of coming in, and no matter how much they threatened and berated us we wouldn’t come in. Then suddenly mother will come out, coax us in, while at the same time warning us not to be mischievous next time. Such is always a mother’s love!
Such too is God’s love; because it is exactly the same way that he deals with us.
Through the goodwill of some of our Christians we have improved on the earth road that leads to our congregation. Even with the improvements there are a lot of undulations. Such is life! We do improve on our lives, making it better than previously, but then the improvements are often still undulating until we make further improvements – just as we intend to do with our road.
As we pack our baggages to enter the new year 2021 I want us to think well on what we take along. Typically we Africans would cling to an old good shoe even when the other pair is damaged beyond repair. Truth is shoes are sold in pairs. Once one of a pair is damaged, the other pair is junk, notwithstanding how new it still can be.
My friend, Cross over into 2021 only with what is useful! Discard of all junk!
COVID-19 incidentally became the nightmare of 2020 – which better qualified it for COVID-20. While we came up with world domination conspiracies, the era of the antichrist etc, we failed to address the main issue. Our actions had alienated us from the Lord’s presence. Our sins caused the Lord not to make his face shine upon us.
Yet the good news is that he was gracious to us. As we enter the new year he assures us, “…I have made you, you are my servant…I will not forget you. I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist.
But this will happen on one condition: “Return to me, for I have redeemed you.”
Let us therefore enter the year by returning to the Lord so that it will be a year in which we “sing for joy,” “shout aloud” and “burst into song” because the Lord has redeemed us and revealed his glory to us in the person of Jesus Christ.(Is.44:21-23).
End of year prayer: Thank you Lord for your unbounded mercy and grace by keeping us in 2020. Holy Spirit prompt me to return to the Lord. Amen!
Goodbye 2020, welcome 2021. Happy New Year 2021!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
