“Loved And Chosen By God!”
“For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction…”(I Thes.1:1-10).
The emphasis here is on what God has done for us and the reason for doing it. God loves you and has chosen you. We rejoice that our labour every night burning the midnight oil is not in vain. The Holy Spirit is at work in you.
Whatever you do in the service of the Lord is a response to what he has done. He loved you and has chosen you.
I can imgaine you everyday hungering for the word of God. Like Paul we pray for you, reminding ourselves of your response to what God has done: “Your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ”
Faith, love and hope should always spur us on this journey in faith. Let the world see that we have moved from darkness into the marvellous light of God in Christ Jesus.
Let them be the ones to “tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead – Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.”
My friend, we are passing through some very challenging times. Our faith is being tested, but we must strive by God’s grace to be permanent overcomers! Tough times never last, but tough people do! The Lord who has chosen us will keep us from falling.
Prayer: Lord, in times like this, may you keep your children whom you have chosen from falling. Amen!
