“All Lives Matter!”(Mt.18:10-14).
A man was driving a pickup truck towards Dschang. He was carrying some people in the cargo bed. The gendarmes stopped him and wanted a bribe from him. He asked to know why they wanted the bribe. They told him it was clandestine to carry people in the cargo bed. The man expressed surprise and said, “Ahh, you mean this Dschang pipi(people)? Dschang pipi(people) na pipi(people)?” To escape bribery, the man considered Dschang people less than humans.
The man’s reaction is a milder way of saying that some people are less than humans.
When the Spanish entered the Americas, they enslaved the indigenous peoples whom they did not consider to be humans. It took a Papal Bull of Pope Paul III in 1537 to declare that the native Americans were true human beings to be treated as such.
The way you define a person determines the way you treat that person. Slavery thrives on the superiority complex that defines some people as less than humans! The “caste system” in India and “osu” in Nigeria all thrive on the myopic arrogance that some are born as high class while some are low class. No wonder some Caucasians still think that Africans sleep on treetops as the blackman monkey they are thought to be!
The Lord Jesus says, “See that you do not despise one of these little ones…” because their angels always see the face of God.
All human beings are created in the image of God, and the same blood flows in their veins. In fact; “all lives matter.”
Undermining other people and lowering their dignity is contemptuous and should not happen in the body of Christ where all parts of the human body are vital for the survival of the whole body.
Any shepherd who does not leave the 99 sheep to go search for the strayed sheep risk losing one sheep after the other until there is no longer any flock.
God is not willing that anyone should be missing.
My friend, the care of all souls is central in the body of Christ. The LORD God is concerned about all of us. He created all of us in his image; our social status notwithstanding!
The Lord Jesus Christ is a model good shepherd who does not only go in search of the strayed sheep but actually laid down his life in his search for the lost sheep. Christ sacrificed his life for our redemption if we believe in him.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for coming to my rescue each time I stray from your presence. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
