“Lord Jesus Christ Just Say The Word…!
God’s final revelation through the incarnation ushers in a new world order. Through Jesus Christ the universality of God is established. YaHWeH is no longer a monopoly of some people (Israelites); he is for all nations. Whoever comes to Jesus Christ in faith from wherever receives what s/he wants or asks for.
God in Jesus Christ does not care who you are or where you come from. All he cares about is your faith. This is reflected in the words of Jesus to the centurion who came pleading that Jesus should heal his servant. The centurion did not consider himself worthy to have Jesus under his roof. He was convinced that Jesus could heal his servant by just saying a word from a distance.
Jesus commended him for such depth of faith: “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such faith…” According to Jesus the centurion is a microcosm of people of the rest of the world who through their faith in him will have a place in the kingdom of heaven. Meanwhile those who pride themselves to be heirs by descent “will be thrown outside, into the darkness…” (Mt.8:5-13).
The commendable faith of the centurion should be a lesson to all in the military; particularly those who command. The centurion was a Roman military officer in charge of 100 soldiers. He was in an army of occupation. He would have been hated by the Jews, but he was not hated. The people instead joined him in pleading to Jesus saying, “This man deserves to have you do this, because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue”(Lk.7:10).
How I wish the same could be said of all military officers who command!
In fact, Jesus Christ is not only for all nations but for people in all walks of life. He is concerned even with the lives of servants. That is why he readily told the centurion, “I will go and heal him.”
My friend, come to Jesus Christ in faith; then, “ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you” (Mt.7:7).
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ I am not worthy to stand before you, but just say the word and let all my sick people be healed. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
