“Live By The Enduring Word Of God!”(I Pt.22-25).
A monkey was friends with a shark. The monkey trusted the shark on the basis of love, but the love of the shark was insincere. At one time, the shark invited the monkey to its home with the intention of using the monkey’s heart to cure its sick wife. The shark revealed its intention to the monkey when they were already on the way. The monkey was saved by its wisdom. When the monkey heard what the shark said, it did not panic. The monkey asked why the shark had not informed it earlier. The monkey told the shark that monkeys don’t always travel with their hearts. It told the shark that its heart was up the tree. The stupid shark made a U-turn just so the monkey could go collect its heart from the treetop. This is an example of insincere love.
We are purified by obeying the truth found in the word of God. This purification enables us not only to have sincere love for each other but to love one another deeply from the heart.”
Sincere love for one another is the opposite of false or fake love, as in the story of the shark and the monkey.
False or fake or insincere love or limerence thrives on fantasy, the need for validation, it is motivated by fear and is temporary.
On the other hand, true or sincere love thrives on security, is characterised by a desire for the well-being of the other person. True love accepts the others as they are with all their flaws. God himself has demonstrated such love by taking us as we are to make us what he wants us to become.
Gaining wisdom from the word of God requires us to have “sincere love, for each other” and to “love one another deeply from the heart;” which is the opposite of “surface love.”
Surface love is shallow. It is often a temporary affection based on external factors like physical attraction, convenience, or material gain. Surface love lacks emotional intimacy. Surface love shows itself in indifference. To love deeply is love that is sacrificial in the same depth of Christ’s love that took him to cross and to the grave.
Thanks be to God that Christ’s love did not keep him in the grave, but took him out of the grave so that we are now “born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.”
My friend in this journey of life, whether by train or flight, our time together is limited. We “are like grass, and our glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever.”
This word purifies us when we obey it. Obeying it is putting it into practice by having sincere love for each other and loving one another deeply from the heart. Remember, “love covers all things.” The acronym for live is:
L- Leave, O- off, V-various and E- evils. Leave off various evils!
Prayer: Holy Spirit indwell us so that we would love each other sincerely and deeply from our hearts through our words and actions. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
