“Days Of Hope!”(Is.33:13-17&22-24).
Until today, I didn’t know that there was an International Day of Hope(July 12), formally adopted by the United Nations. This day “celebrates Hope as a transformative force for peace, human rights, and global unity… It is a global call to action to make hope a public health priority. It recognises that hope protects against violence, addiction, and suicide and is essential for building a better future.”
Hope never disappoints! We lose nothing by hoping, but we can lose more by not hoping.
There is no bleak future when hope is kept alive. Hope makes us smile over our present misfortunes because with hope we know that tomorrow is going to be better than today.
In various ways, scriptures give us assurances of a better future as long as we keep hope alive. With days of hope, we have “the spiritual conviction that positive outcomes and divine mercy are always possible, even during times of conflict or oppression.”
Hope assures the future of sinners as they know that when they turn to God in repentance, their sins will be forgiven.
When the psalmists sang, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth…”(Ps.121:1-2ff), he was keeping hope alive.
Those who can dwell with the consuming fire and everlasting burning are “those who walk righteously and speak what is right, who reject gain from extortion and keep their hands from accepting bribes, who stop their ears against plots of murder and shut their eyes against evil – they are those who will dwell on the heights… Their bread will be supplied, and water will not fail them.”
If we know this, then even as sinners, terrified of what is happening, we should turn to the LORD fully.
Days of hope gives us the assurance that the LORD, who is our judge, lawgiver, and king, will save us; and he has already done it in Christ!
So my friend, make each day a day of hope, and there will never be a dull tomorrow for you.
Prayer: God, my Saviour, through your love, I know all will be well, all, all is well and all must be well. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
