“Jesus Christ Is The Way And The Truth And The Life!”
Some time ago a Man of God took a dead child and laid the child on the alter and prayed all night for the dead child to come back to life. He based his conviction in that Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”
This is because the Father is in him and he is in the Father.
Does “anything in my name” mean just anything – even if it is to contradict the will of God like praying all night for a dead child to be brought back to life?
You reading this are either a child or a parent. If you are a child you should know by now that no matter how good your parents are, they do not always give you just everything you ask from them. If they think it isn’t good for you they won’t give it. You may be angry, but you’ll thank them later.
On the other hand, if you are a parent you do not always give to the child just anything that s/he asks for. Not all requests are met with according to expectations; yet they work for the good of those who put their trust in God and who have been called according to his purpose.
Failure to discern this makes us no different from Philip who having been with Jesus for a long time still did not know Jesus as to understand that once you know him you have known the Father (Jn.14:7-14).
So my friend, faith leads us to know Jesus first. Faith also gives us a discerning spirit to ask from him only what is in the will of the Father. When we ask from the Father through the Son, the response is either a “Yes” with prompt action; a “No” or a “Yes, but wait.”
Prayer: Holy Spirit teach me to know Jesus Christ well and to ask from him just what is in the will of the Father. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
