“The Pain Of A Prophet!”

“The Pain Of A Prophet!”(Jer.20:7-13).
Whoever calls himself a prophet but goes about with bodyguards suits his calling. He is the one who has called himself. It is correct to call such a one, “armchair prophet.”
Prophets called by God are scared, too. They too fear for their lives. They are not free of doubt because faith and trust are not the absence of doubt. Faith and trust are the confidence that outgrows doubt.
The dangers of the prophetic ministry are real. If the assignment is to be set “over nations and kingdoms to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow,” the prophet must expect the worst!
Who is going to take it lightly watching you use your mouth to pluck and break down and to destroy and to overthrow domination systems that have been made secure by the powers that be?
Such a prophetic assignment to unmask the powers through identification, name them by calling them by their real names and engaging them through renunciation and dismantling in other to establish a new world order which is the kingdom of God attracts death threats!
It shouldn’t surprise us when the word of God brings upon us insult and reproach; to the extent that even our friends, like vultures wait for us to slip so that they can prevail over us and take revenge on us.
Dear Christian, in moments like this, your prophet remember the day of his calling when the LORD assured him, “Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you.”
Then he is tempted to accuse God, saying, “You deceived me, LORD…”
Far from it, confidence is restored: “The LORD is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced…”
Despite all the odds, there is confident hope beyond the horizon of despair! Therefore, “sing to the LORD! Give praise to the LORD! He rescues the life of the needy from the hands of the wicked.”
So my friend, we won’t be afraid to speak in God’s name because his word burns inside us like fire. Despite the threat, we are compelled to call you to repentance. God does not want any of us to die in our sins.
Prayer: Dear LORD, deliver me from the hands of those who hate me for your name’s sake. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
