“In Jesus Christ There Is Fulness Of Life!”
Two words which Jesus used and which raised bile in the chief priests and Pharisees are the “I am” words. When God called and commissioned Moses in the burning bush Moses asked to know what name he should tell the people when they ask him who sent him. God told Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” He told Moses to say to the Israelites: “‘I Am’ has sent me. This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation”(Ex.3:12-15). From then on the “I am” became a holy name of God.
Imagine that Jesus kept saying, “I am the bread of life(Jn.6:35). “I am the light of the world…”(Jn.8:12, 9:5). “I am the gate…”(Jn.10:7). “I am the good shepherd…”(Jn.10:11, 14). “I am the resurrection and the life…”(Jn.11:25). “I am the way and the truth and the life…”(Jn.14:6). And “I am the true vine…”(Jn.151,5). He irked the religious authorities, but he knew who he was so he wasn’t deterred by their hate.
Our focus this morning is “…I am the gate for the sheep…I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” This is in contrast to the thief who “comes only to steal and kill and destroy…”
Obi visited his friend Ndansi just when Ndansi wanted to commit suicide. Obi asked to know why? Ndansi said life was not worth living any more. Obi asked him, “Do you know anything about life? Have you ever lived life?…”
Sometimes we think that life is not worth living, when we have not even lived at all.
There is no life without knowing Jesus Christ. It is not about wealth, health, power, fame etc! You may have some or all of the above but you are not yet living. When Jesus touches you in the inner being then you start living.
My friend, life without Jesus Christ is meaningless! This isn’t about the absence of trials, tribulations, hardships, pain, diseases and death. It is about that inner peace which passes all human understanding accompanied by a boundless and limitless love.
The gate is open when you need it for you to pass through and be saved. You can come in and go out and find pasture because you are in the care of the good shepherd who makes sure that you have life to the full.
Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus Christ for giving me life in its fullness. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
