“Be Blessed With Wisdom Through The Spirit!”
In 2004 the Very Rev. Dr. Festus A Asana delivered an academic discourse in the university of Buea during matriculation captioned “On the pursuit of genuine knowledge.”
Among the things he said which caught my attention include, “reference to genuine knowledge could imply that there is knowledge that is fake or faulty, a negation of knowledge that is true.”
He reminded the students that “true knowledge emanates from God who in the first place created all that is good. To know God then implies faith in God and true ‘faith is not belief without proof but trust without reservation.'” He reminisced on St Augustine of Hippo who said, “the more he believed, the more he understood and the more he understood, the more he believed.”
You know, the other day I read about a nurse who had been found guilty because she gave a Bible to a patient. It’s not an isolated case though. In the 1960s “an astronaut read psalm 8 on the moon to recognise the greatness of God only to be confronted by an attorney who sued the Christian scientist for practicing religion in space, a domain of scientists.”
These things are the outcome of the “wisdom of this age…” where reason is exalted above the spiritual. Such wisdom exalt evil, even in “God’s name,” and spiritual wisdom is relegated to the back pews! With the wisdom “of the rulers of this age” truth is according to the words of those who wield power and authority; even when such truth is blatant and visible falsehood! And this is how bad we have degenerated as a people! The blood of the innocent are crying from the ground asking to be avenged!
As believers we should shun the wisdom of this age that idolize mundane things. Believers “should speak of God’s secret wisdom” which has been hidden but was destined for our glory, even before the beginning of time!
Christ is our wisdom which God had prepared for those who love him and which he reveals to us through his Spirit.
Yes, “the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God”(I Cor. 2:6-10).
My friend, aspire to the wisdom of God from the Spirit!
Prayer: Holy Spirit keep me steadfast in Christ the wisdom of God. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
