“Be A Witness For Jesus Christ With The Totality Of Your Being!”
There is this skit where two masked armed men enter a church during worship and surrender the worshippers. They tell the worshippers that they would kill anybody who calls on the name of Jesus Christ. All the worshippers – including the pastor – except one man disowns Jesus. The armed men unmask themselves and everybody is surprised to see that they too are members of the congregation.
These two men are dissappointed with the pastor, the prayer warriors, the choir mistress who often sing down heaven to earth while worshipping the Lord in song. How could they deny Jesus?
Writers of fiction often state that all characters in the story are imaginary and bear no relation to any living being they know. Truth is that the imaginary characters are imagined from living characters known and buried in the subconscious mind of the author. All fiction is imagined from real life.
The skit mentioned above in drawn from real life. When we acknowledge Christ in word and not in deed, then we are merely paying lip service. To say like Peter, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Mt.16:16), is not enough to mean that you have acknowledged Jesus as the Christ. Jesus says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven”(Mt.7:21).
Heaven is not for jesters. Our lives in Christ when properly self-examined are hypocritical in one way or the other. We often live in blasphemy when our actions contradicts our affirmations of Jesus as the Christ. We may be forgiven for that, because that is why Jesus died. But when we blaspheme against the Holy Spirit, there is no forgiveness. Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is when we see the miracles of Jesus and say it is the power of Satan (Cf.Mt.12:22-24).
When we belong fully to the Lord in thought, word and deed, we would not fear the authorities because when arraigned before them, the Holy Spirit will be there to teach us at that time what to say (Lk.12:7-12).
So therefore my friend, do not offer lip service for Christ. Acknowledge him by obedience to his commands. Recognise the wonders of God’s grace as he uses others to achieve his works on earth. Trust the Holy Spirit to be with you through all trials and temptations. The Lord will own you before the angels in heaven.
Prayer: Holy Spirit lead me away from thoughts and deeds that do not acknowledge Jesus Christ before men. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
