“Be A Fruitful Branch!”(Jn.15:1-8).
“I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.”
We have to be context-specific because there are some tree types whose branches can survive without the tree. That, however, is only when the branch has been separated from its tree and it is on the ground.
The Christian population worldwide is at most 31% of the world’s population. These are the current branches that are in Christ the vine. Even so, Christ is saying that you can still be a fruitless branch that the gardener will cut off as useless.
Our Christian calling is not by the name we carry but by the fruit we produce that gives glory to God.
Most times, we Christians focus our lenses on the about two-thirds of the world’s population that are not Christian as if being Christian automatically exempts us from unchristian inclinations!
The Lord Jesus Christ is telling us that God the Father who is the gardener cuts off any branch in Christ that bears no fruit, but he prunes the branch that bear fruit so that it becomes more fruitful.
We are called upon to remain in Christ and let his words remain in us so that when we ask whatever we wish, it will be done for us.
We glorify God by bearing much fruit that shows that we are the disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Scriptures say we are known by the fruits we bear. Therefore, bear fruit that shows that you are cleaned because of the word.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, guide me daily to remain a fruitful branch in the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
