“True And Proper Worship!”(Rom.12:1-3).
We give glory to the LORD who, by mercy, has given us another day
Today, we are reminded that mercy is not paid for, yet it is priceless.
Our response to God’s mercy is “true and proper worship.”
True and proper worship is not about the drama we participate in during church service. True and proper worship is to “offer your body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.”
Sacrifice generally includes the spilling of blood and dead.
In a sense, we can truly offer our bodies as living sacrifices by being dead to the standards of the world.
Being dead to this other worldliness is “not to conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
This is the sum total of the message of Romans. “God demands our actions as well as our thinking and believing. Faith expresses itself in obedience.” This us to say although we are not saved by works, works is still crucial as a response to free grace.
True and proper worship enables us to test and approve God’s good and perfect will is: “Humble service in the Body of Christ.”
Humble service demands that you should not be wiseacres. “Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.”
Fingers are not of the same length, but the smallest finger is as useful as the biggest. We are called and set apart by becoming strong and wise in togetherness because, as individuals, we are in a sense simpletons.
My friend, in Christ, let us be transformed by renewing our minds to see and obey the realities of God’s expectations.
Prayer of the day and week: Holy Spirit, help us daily to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week!
