“God Alone Holds The Future In His Hands!”
We often spent time worrying about tomorrow as if we have any control over it. There is no doubt that we must make our plans for tomorrow, but we have no control over that tomorrow. Tomorrow and the things that will happen therein are in God’s hands.
The disciples worried about the restoration of the kingdom of Israel. They asked the resurrected Christ, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” Jesus’ response to them is the same to us when we are fretting about tomorrow. “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority…” Oh yes; “there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven…”(Eccl.3:1ff).
Our times are in God’s hands; but we cannot sit idly like the “lotus eaters” as time rolls by. We must make our plans for tomorrow, but we must plan with God who has decided on what has to be.
The ascended Lord has sent to us the promised Holy Spirit who gives us power to be witnesses of the resurrection. He has not left us as orphans(Acts 1:3-11). He is with us always, till the end of the age (Mt.28:20b). We should dutifully witness for him in word and deed until he comes again.
As we witness for the Lord while awaiting his coming again, let this prayer guide us on our daily journey of faith:
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
