“The Lord Will Not Forsake You; Praise His Holy Name!”
In our youthful days one way we used in stopping a friend who came up with a cock-and-bull story was to say, “Guy, just stop, that song dong old” or “That cassette dong wrap, better change am.”
When the rhythm of the drumming increases the dancing takes a new tempo. The Lord who does not share his glory with anyone says, “Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.”
This is reason to “Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth…”
God assures us, “I will lead the blind in a way that they know not, in paths that they have not known…”
But who are the blind? When Jesus gave sight to a man who had been born blind, he told the man: “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and that those who see may become blind.” Some Pharisees who heard this asked him, “Are we also blind?” Jesus told them, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains”(Jn.9:1ff).
If we recognise our spiritual blindness, then God’s message of assurance and hope is for us that, “I will lead the blind in a way that they know not, in paths that they have not known…” He will guide them and turn the darkness before them into light. He will not forsake them. But those who trust in graven images “shall be turned back and utterly put to shame”(Is.42:9-16). They are like the Pharisees who say, “We see,” so they remain in their spiritual blindness.
My friend, just like a physically blindman give your hand to the Lord who will guide your steps to your prepared destination which you know nothing about. And while he is leading you just be singing a new song for his goodness and compassion.
Weekend prayer: Father thank you that through Jesus Christ you lead us, guide us and never forsake us. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
