“Jesus Is The Christ Of God Who Must Suffer Many Things For Your Sake!”
Grassfield wisdom says “only the crab knows where the private part of the wife is located.” There are some deepseated truths about you that only the closest to you can decipher.
On the other hand the public have the right to form their opinions of who you are, though their judgements are often flawed. It may not necessarily be that they are wrong, but that the image you portray of youself leads them to such flawed conclusions of who you are! When a lion hides its claws and dresses in sheep’s clothing it can pass for a sheep.
Jesus wanted to know from his disciples who the crowds thought he was. They told him how some considered him to be John the Baptist, others said he was Elijah and some said he was one of the prophets of long ago.
Jesus became blunt with them and asked, “But what about you? Who do you say I am?” This is a tricky question because fake friends wouldn’t want to spoil the relationship by telling you point blank what they think; especially if the friendship is to their advantage.
Peter the “Massa Tok Tok” was quick to rightly respond, “The Christ of God.” But even so Peter’s understanding of Jesus was hazy. Jesus had to explain to them that his Christship had to come through “a crown of thorns.” He “must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life”(Lk.9:18-22).
What a tragi-comedy; a sad story with a happy ending – the resurrection! My friend, who is Jesus Christ to you! Are you ready to deny yourself and come after him? Or you want to come to him with nothing and become everything?
Strive to know Jesus for yourself for who he is as you experience him. Don’t just parody Peter to say you are “The Christ of God!”
Prayer: Lord, let me not be among the priests, elders and teachers of the law who ignorantly send you to your grave. Amen! Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
