“Seek Peace And Joy Through Reconciliation With God In Christ!”
With disciplines like psychology, psychiatry, psycho-spirituality etc, we are becoming more aware that neither riches, wealth, fame nor power can give one peace of mind or make one joyful. Power, wealth, riches and fame more often only add to frustrations and restlessness of the soul.
From time immemorial and cutting across continents Fons, kings, emperors, lamidos and Kaisers were prone to hiring the services of griots, clowns and jesters to entertain them.
Peace can only be inborn and is the result of a right relationship with God. St Augustine of Hippo said, humanity was made for God and as long as he does not find him his soul remains restless until it finds rest in God. A restless soul can never know peace. Peace that surpasses human understanding is of God and from God. A peaceful heart is that heart which has peace with God.
Paul tells us, “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ through whom we have gained access by faith into grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God…”
Most of our frustrations – even in God – is because peace and joy in God does not suddenly transform our lives into honey all the time! Such is life!
Paul reminds us that “we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” Yes, “hunger which has hope does not kill!”
Personally I’m not enticed to buy things through adverts; in the same way that the numerous books on “How to be this…” or “how to become that…” don’t impress me.
“When we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly…” This was a demonstration of God’s love that “While we were still sinners Christ died for us.” This became the means of our reconciliation with God and should be the raison d’etre of our peace and joy (Rom.5:1-11).
Dear friend, reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ is the only source of your peace and joy. To make this peace and joy complete you too should be genuinely reconciled to one another. But let no rat quickly rejoice by the truce offered by the cat! Trust died because he was poisoned by bad pay! This is called, having a spirit of discernment and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead you!
Sunday prayer: Thank you Lord for pouring out your love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit whom you have given us. Amen! Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
