“…Your Days Of Sorrow Will End!”(Is.60:19-20).
I just watched a short video of a Ghanaian business tycoon lying on his sick bed helpless. He has reached the point of no-return. His wives and children seems not to care that he is there helpless and motionless. They are there around his sickbed quarreling and fighting over money and property which he spent his life amassing. Alas, he no longer has control over those things! One of the wives is heard shouting, wanting him to sign cheques for her bills. They even brought soldiers to forcefully take him to where he would do as they want.
Vanity upon vanity! All that we toil for, thinking they would bring us joy and happiness soon become the very source of our pain and sorrow.
Our souls remain restless until they find rest in God. And until the soul is at rest, there can’t be any real happiness. Some times – and to some people, this is most times – the broad smiles and loud laughter only hide the tears within.
Our anchor is in the love of God our saviour. In him our faith sings through days of sorrow. But we know that with Christ all will be well, all all is well, and all must be well.
We have unconditional trust in this promise: “the LORD will be your everlasting light and your days of sorrow will end.” Imagine the frustration we often experience when there is blackout and you are groping in the dark searching for something! If you’ve known the experience of darkness, then you can begin to visualise how it is when the LORD becomes your everlasting light! Surely, your days of sorrow will come to an end, thus marking the beginning of real joy and true happiness. Merry Christmas in advance!
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ thank you for being the eternal light that dispels the darkness of my soul. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
