“Whatever It Is, It Is In God’s Will For You!”
It was in the heart of the rainy season. The pastor went to administer to a distant congregation. Midway on his journey there was a torrential downpour of rain. There was no place to take shelter. He arrived the congregation drenched to the marrow.
When he returned home later that day, he was contemplating in his mind and concluding to himself that never again would he go to that congregation during the rainy season. While he was still lost in thought, two men entered his house and went down on their knees. He couldn’t understand. He asked to know what was amiss. They told him they have come to ask for his forgiveness and that they have vowed to serve his God. They said his God was a powerful God. He asked to know how they had wronged him. They told him that they had been hired to assassinate him. They had planned to kill him on that day. As he approached where they were hiding and waiting to shoot him, the heavy rain started falling. The rain caused their dane guns not to fire as they took aim to shoot him.
When he heard their confession he went down on his knees praising God. The words could not even come out audibly, but his spirit was full of praise as he confessed to God for having decided that he would never go to that distant congregation during the rainy season. He decided that even in the heaviest of rains he will go wherever in the service of the Lord.
Above all, he understood fully Paul’s words, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son…And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”
It also dawned on him that it was not only about him, but also about the two assassins. God used him to convert them without his effort. He realised that “the Spirit helps us in our weakness” and that in moments like the one he found himself when he lacked words to thank God, the Spirit was there interceding for him “with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will”(Rom.8:26-30).
My friend, you may find yourself in situations similar to that of the pastor. When it happens, trust God and know that what he has predestined for your life will come to be. Whenever you can’t pray, allow the Holy Spirit to intercede for you. God hears the prayers of the deaf and dumb because the Spirit intercedes for them; just as he does for you.
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit I depend on you to intercede for me whenever I do not know what I ought to pray for. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
