“Whatever It Be, It Is In God’s Plan!”
All the members of the Supreme court were present in the nocturnal court session: “the high priest, and all the chief priests, elders and teachers of the law.” They were all there!
Their objective: “looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death.” “Many testified falsely against him, but their testimony did not agree.” But still there were those who gave a false testimony which even then did not agree.
The high priest did the right thing to seek evidence from the accused himself. He asked Jesus, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed God?” Jesus told him what he wanted to hear, “I am…” (Mk.14:53-72). Jesus’ answer was blasphemous enough to warrant a death sentence. The religious authorities were irked each time Jesus used the “I Am” phrase. That was God’s sacred name which he revealed to Moses. *”I AM WHO I AM.” God told Moses to tell the Israelites, *”I AM has sent me to you”*(Ex.3:14).
For Jesus to tell the supreme court that “I am” was a blasphemy deserving the death sentence.
The irony of it all is that these people were ignorantly acting out their parts in the drama quite according to the script as written in heaven. On Palm Sunday Sunday we had mentioned that *”Jesus purposefully offers himself as the Messiah, knowing that this will provoke the Jewish community leaders to take action against him.”* And this is what is happening!
Earlier on he had taught his disciples that “the Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again”(Mk.8:31).
My friend, the lesson here is that the plot against you may seem evil, but it may be that the enemy is acting perfectly well according to the script as written by God.
The shit that your neighbour is throwing in your yard is God’s way of providing manure for you to grow your vegetables! Whatever it be, let God’s will be done!
Prayer: Holy Spirit give me strength to bear the darts of my adversary, trusting that they too are mere tools in God’s hand. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
