“Walking With The Light!”(Is.9:2-7).
Long before Christ was born the prophet Isaiah had prophesied: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned…” According to Matthew, Jesus began his preaching as a fulfilment of the above. And his first words were, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near”(Mt.4:15-17).
Sin is darkness and repentance and accepting Christ is moving from darkness to light becauseJesus the Christ is the Light of the world.
John opens his gospel by stating about Jesus, *”In him was life, and that life was the light of men.” Sadly though, “the light shines in darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” *Jesus, “the true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world”*(In.1:4-5&9).
Jesus the Christ is the light of the world because from him comes spiritual illumination! When in conversation one person says for example, “Ah, I see,” or “I now understand…” it kind of means that an explanation has cleared that person’s doubt or ignorance on the issue. It is in the same way that Jesus dispels the ignorance (darkness of sin) and lead us into spiritual awareness.
He is the hope for humanity; that is why his reign is different from other world leaders. His royal program is to establish and uphold his kingdom with justice and righteousness.
Dear friend, Christ has come and his reign had long begun. The kingdom of heaven is right here with us. Those who see and recognise it, believe and accept it, advocate for justice and righteousness which leads to peace.
The master expects us to be like him. So he says, *”You are the light of the world…let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven”*(My.5:14-16).
Where and when the light of the gospel shines, the weapons of war are destroyed. As long as nations continue to take pride in their military prowess, peace is far away from them. Great in the eyes of God are those countries without standing armies.
To every Peter Christ says, *”Put your sword back in its place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword”*(Mt.26:52). Christian warfare is not one that requires physical equipments. It is a spiritual battle against sin, principalities and powers, requiring spiritual weapons. When the war is won in the spiritual, the physical shadows of the spiritual begin to crumble.
We have seen the light. Let us come out to the light so that we can destroy the works of darkness through the reign of the *”Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”*
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ thank you for bringing us out of darkness into your marvellous light and making us light for others. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
