“Turn To The Light!”
In olden days photography the photographer’s studio had a “darkroom.” A darkroom is “a room with not light or with a safelight for developing light-sensitive photographic materials.” Maybe darkness as a metaphor for evil is misplaced or inappropriate. The fact that evil deeds are done in the dark is not to say that good deeds are not done in the dark too. Darkness was a package of the first day of creation before God caused light to happen (Gen1:2).
However, darkness is a safe haven for wrong doing and wrong doers. A sudden flash of light on people engaged in nocturnal clandestine activities attracts insults.
In the same way that darkness is a metaphor for evil, so too is light a metaphor for rightness and correctness. The Lord Jesus Christ is Light to illuminate the darkness of a broken and fallen humanity. He is the manifestation of God’s love, a demonstration of his amazing grace and the proof of his mercy.
What is required of us is belief in Jesus; not by the mere affirmation: “I believe you are the eternal Son of God,” but by moving away from darkness and coming to the Light.
Jesus is not here to condemn anyone, he is here to save us. But if we chose to remain in the darkness of sin, then here is the verdict: *”Light has come into the world, but men love darkness instead of light because their deeds are evil.”
God’s Light is a free offer to whoever cares to have it. Lovers of truth come into the light so that it may be seen clearly that what they do are done through God.
So therefore, our belief in the Son of God should not be momentary belief and doubts, but of continued settled conviction. *”Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already…”*(Jn.3:16-21).
My friend, to believe is to move away from that which is associated with darkness and embrace the Light and do works worthy of Light. We may have done horrible things in the past, but God through Christ is giving another chance to make amends. *Move away from darkness and turn to the Light!*
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, Light Of God pull me out from the dark abyss to your ever glowing light in my thought, word and deed. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
