“To God Be The Glory Forever!”
One of my Old Testament teachers asked us, “What justification do we Gentiles have in praying for the conversion of the Jews?” He didn’t see how Gentiles can begin to boast about a faith that was not theirs, while at the same time being snobbish towards the original possessors of the faith. Paul discusses this in three full chapters of Romans (9, 10 & 11).
Israel may have rejected Christ but their unbelief became the gains of Gentiles. Gentiles are wild olive shoots that have been grafted in among other branches because some of the original branches were taken off. Ingrafted branches should not boast because “you do not support the root, but the root supports you.” Paul warns us not to be conceited because “all Israel will be saved.”
Paul concludes the discussion with a mighty praise to God. He praises “the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!” God’s judgments are unsearchable and his paths are beyond tracing. No-one knows the mind of God and no human has been his counselor. Nobody has ever given to God so that God should repay him. “For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen”(Rom.11:33-36).
My friend, none of us can understand the things of God, we just have to bow in humble submission and give him the glory forever and ever! Grace to the Gentiles may be disgrace to Israel, but “all Israel will be saved” through consanguinuity! Gentiles are sons only by adoption. We are not skilled to understand the fulness of the things of God.
Prayer: To you alone O Lord be the glory forever and ever! Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
