“Through The Incarnation The Father Has Lavished Great Love On Us!” (I Jn.3:1-6).
Yesterday we posted that “grace is the reason for the season.” In the comment section a friend wrote,“Awww yes, I remember Grace. Wonder whatever happened to good old Grace…” I caught up with the humour and replied, “She was despised because they said she was cheap, offering herself freely to those who cared less about her…” Our friend replied,“…Must be why she left town and nobody has seen her since!”
My response,“…She’s still around town, hidden from prying eyes but making herself available to those who appreciate her worth.”
Indeed, John says, “The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know” Christ Jesus. Grace is very much around town, for as Jesus says, “Here I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him…”(Jn.3:20). Grace is the light that shines in darkness but the darkness has not overcome it (Jn.1:5).
God through Christ has made us his children, but if we hope to see Christ when he comes and be like him, then we must purify ourselves, just as Christ is pure. We will see him if we work every day at minimising sin because whoever continues to sin has neither seen him nor known him.
Like we said, Grace is still around town but makes herself available only to those who appreciate her worth.
Sunday prayer: Father we thank you for the great love you have lavished on us and made us your children. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you! Merry Christmas and a fulfilling new year in advance!
Rev. Babila Fochang.
