“The Resurrection: Assurance Of Our Future Spiritual Nature!”
If some of us were living in Paul’s time and the question of how the resurrection body would be like came up, we may have said, “We shall cross that bridge when we get to it.” But that would not have assuaged the doubts and confusion of the people.
Anybody who has ever planted anything in the soil will be satisfied with Paul’s analogy as he answered the question. “Whst you sow does not come to life unless it dies. When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed…But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body…So it will be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable, it is sown in dishonour, it is raised in glory, it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power, it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.” At the resurrection we “shall bear the likeness of the man from heaven”(I Cor.15:35-39).
Jesus himself considered the resurrection as a seed when he said, “…unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds”(Jn.12:20).
Oh yes, “on the resurrection morning we shall rise…!”
All that we are, all that we have are transient! But in the resurrection we will be imperishable, glorious and with power, and above all we will like snakes peel off our natural and mortal bodies for a spiritual and immortal one. Hallelujah!
Beyond the horizon of death is the blessedness of eternity to those who believe in the resurrection!
Weekend prayer: Heavenly Father thank you that through the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ you have ensured my spiritual eternity. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
