“Advent Journey Day XVI.”
“The Proper Time Of God’s Favor!”(Lk.1:18-25).
Zechariah and Elizabeth were the biological parents of John the Baptist. This means an old couple in their menopause had coitus and the woman became pregnant. There is nothing God cannot do, yet it is difficult to believe that he can do what he has promised to do.
Zechariah doubted the words of Gabriel, not because he had little faith. He was just being human. It is difficult to believe in a promise that the sun would rise in the evening.
Once upon a time in this triangle there was an election slogan, “Joy before the feast.” Some people felt that such a slogan meant that the results of the polls were known before election day. We can celebrate an upcoming win through speculation, prediction or forecast.
Joy to the world is not only on the day of Jesus’ birth. For Zechariah and Elizabeth the joy came before Jesus’ birthday.
Gabriel told Zechariah, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son…He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth…”(Lk.1:13-15).
When Elizabeth was pregnant she said, “The Lord has done this for me. In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”
My friend, what is the barrenness situation in your life that has brought shame and disgrace to you among the people? Keep the faith! God’s words to you “will come true at the proper time.”
Salvation will come on Christmas day, but before then, God will remember you. He will show his favor to you and take away your disgrace among the people. Hold on to your faith. Tough times never lasts; it shall come to pass.
Prayer: Praise be to you Lord. I believe your promises because your words come true at their proper time. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
