“The Name Above All Names!”(Heb.1:1-16).
Dear LORD, thank you for the Word that became flesh to make us whole!
After some hard sayings from Jesus, “many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.” Jesus turned and asked the Twelve, “You do not want to leave too, do you?” As usual, Peter replied as the spokesman for the Twelve, “LORD, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God “(Jn.6:66-69).
By faith, you arrive at that place where you believe that it is the place. You get to that place of conviction where, like Archimedes, you run out of the bath shouting, “Eureka! Eureka!” – “I have found it! I have found it!”
Peter’s response to Jesus above was an Eureka moment. When you get there, nothing matters anymore. You are at the final bus stop.
My friend, when by faith you come to Jesus and believe in him, you won’t harbour any doubt about who he is. When you find Jesus, you know that God’s grace has become sufficient for you.
In the doubt, confusion, debate, and denial that followed after Jesus’ death, resurrection, ascension, and his kingship rule with the Father, the author of the letter to the Hebrews through divine inspiration explained this: “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs…”
The incarnation we just celebrated is not a mere birthday commemoration. We are celebrating our affirmation of the fulfilment and final revelation of God! It is the assurance that he became like us to make us divinely become like him! He is superior and anterior to angels whom the Jews considered to be the nearest to God in rank.
God’s love was the motivation for the incarnation. May we pass it on in the same sacrificial manner in which God passed it down to us.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, we worship and adore you for you are the eternal source of our being here and in the hereafter. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you! Merry Christmas and a fulfilling New Year!
