“The Lord Is Your Strength And Protector!”
When Jezebel heard that Elijah had slaughtered all the prophets of Baal, she sent word to Elijah promising to do the same to him within twenty-four hours.
Upon hearing this “Elijah was afraid and ran for his life.” Elijah was a prophet of great miraculous exploits. A prophet who will call and God will send down fire, yet he was afraid and ran for his life. Not only that, he broke down and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord, he said. Take my life…”
There comes a time – even with the strois ngest of faith – that we are bound to be afraid of our enemies and run for our lives. There comes a time when even though we are persecuted because of God’s service, we feel that life has become meaningless and all our work is in vain. When we get to that point our prayer may be that God should end our lives.
Happily as it is, “the darkest hour is nearer the dawn.” When we think we have met a dead end that is when an angel of the Lord wakes us up from our slumber by a touch, saying, “Get up and eat… Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.”
My friend, threats to your life in the line of duty should not lead you to despair. However, it is important to run away from danger when you see it coming. Do not give up on God for he does not give up on you. In the midst of flight and danger and with no hope of your next meal, an angel will be there to give you bread and water (I Kgs.19:1-8). The Lord will always feed you so that you have strength for the journey! Trust and hope in him always.
Prayer of the week: Lord give me the discernment to know when to run for my life and to trust that you will provide me strength for any journey. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working week! Have a blessed day and week, and happy women’s day! Peace be with you!
