“The Future End Is Certain And Glorious!”
We go on with life either toiling or having some deserved rest and relaxation. When we think of death we still waive it aside as if to say, “Death, I know you are there, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.”
We may suddenly be jolted back to reality when someone close to us or known to us suddenly exits the stage unannounced. Then we ask rhetorically, “What is life?” We begin to wonder what life is all about!
The hen constantly had to lecture its chicks on the meaning of life. It took time to school its chicks on how to escape the kite. One chick asked, “What happens to us when we grow up?” Mother hen replied, “You become dainty for human consumption.” The chicks wondered why they had to constantly escape the kite only to end up as human meal. For them the lecture was better termed, “The meaninglessness of life” and not “The meaning of life!”
As Christians we know differently. We know that “there’s a land that is fairer than day. And by faith we can see it afar. For the Father waits over the way. To prepare us a dwelling place there…”
“For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us.” Unlike the chicks who think life is meaningless, we believe and so speak “because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence… Therefore we do not lose heart…,” because hunger which has hope of food does not kill.
While we are alive we should in faith continue in testimony “so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God”(II Cor.4:11-16).
While we are alive let us bear testimony for the gospel in word and deed to the glory of God.
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ take away from me the scare of death because you have won the victory over death. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
