“The Choice Is Yours…!”(Ez.3:22-27).
God has a way of humbling those he has chosen to proclaim his words. He does it his own way so that the messengers should not rely on their ability and capability.
Imagine that he tells you, “…I have made you a watchman for …, so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me”(Ez.3:17). With such words you are confident that the hand of the LORD is upon you to execute the mission entrusted to you – which is to go and speak his word. But then he turns around and tells you, “Go, shut yourself inside your house. And…they will tie you with ropes; you will be bound so that you cannot go out among the people. I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be silent and unable to rebuke them, though they are a rebellious house.” Of course, it’s a natural law that silence precedes speech, but in this case it is imposed by the LORD so that it is only when he speaks to you that he opens your mouth before you can say what he asks you to say to the people.
God prepares us not only through forced silence, he makes us to be temporarily dumb so that we should not boast of our eloquence.
When he opens our mouths and gives us the words, he sends us to call the people to repentance. “Whoever will listen let him listen, and whoever will refuse let him refuse…”
My friend, life is about choices, but we must be reminded that choices have consequences! Therefore, make your choice wisely as you decide to listen or to refuse. The choice is yours.
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit help me to be willing to listen to the words of the Sovereign LORD always. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
