“Take The Lord Jesus Christ At His Word!”(Jn.4:43-54).
We are currently engaged in a house to house quarter visits to know exactly where our Christians live. When we enter a house we greet, then ask that the members should be called in for prayers. After prayers we move on.
A noticeable common trend is the shift of focus in prayer. During prayer once you mention the words,“blood of Jesus,” you hear a chorus from those present,“blood of Jesus!” It is as if the words “blood of Jesus” have greater impact than,“in the name of Jesus Christ your son our Lord”, or, “through Jesus Christ, your son our Lord.”
Jesus said, you may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. He didn’t say his blood is more portent than his name!
Jesus paid a visit to Galilee and was warmly welcomed.
While there a royal official came to him pleading that he should come and heal his sick son. Jesus told him,“Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders you will never believe.” His words were directed more to the Galileans. They welcomed him not because they saw in him a Messiah but because he was a miracle worker who could amaze them. It was in Cana in Galilee that he had performed his first miracle by turning water into wine. Besides, “they had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, for they also had been there.”
When the royal official kept insisting for Jesus to come lest his son died, Jesus told him, “You may go, your son will live.” We are told that “The man took Jesus at his word and departed.” It turned out that the son was healed at that instance when Jesus told him, “you may go…” Jesus’ words were not some kind of prophecy that will happen. Those were words of power, effecting healing at the moment they were pronounced.
The outcome of the distant healing of the official’s son was that “he and all his household believed.”
When Jesus changed water into wine in Cana,“He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him”(Jn.2:11). Now in the second Cana miracle the official and all his household believed.
While the first miracle was at a wedding (social context), this one was to save a dieing child. In both miracles Jesus was not in direct action.
My friend, let us take special note of what the royal official did when Jesus told him, “you may go…” He took Jesus at his word and departed.
Today Jesus is still the distant healer. By faith, take him at his word and he will answer your prayer. He said, “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it”(Jn.14:14). It is not “blood of Jesus” that does it, rather, it is when we take him at his word that he does it.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, I take you at your word. Do it for me as you have said. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
