“Strive For Oneness In Christ!”
We are familiar with the expression “What are friends for?” I’m beginning to take the question very seriously and wondering; what truly are friends for; especially Facebook friends! I have five thousand Facebook friends. There are above a thousand friend requests queued up. On my Morning Meditation page there are about twenty six thousand likes and above twenty-six thousand followers. Of the twenty-six thousand likes only about a thousand three hundred are from my friends list. So to say, three thousand plus friends are dormant and at worst hundreds of them are monitoring spirits looking for opportunities to pull me down! So what are friends for?
“Black lives matter!” Agreed! But it is not so much about colour and race! It is so much about the mindsets which set up certain dehumanizing structures and the mindsets of those who enforce such dehumanizing structures.
I happen to be the descendant of a slave from my mother’s side but still from my mother’s side I am the descendant of royalty. My point is that slavery was here in Africa before the slave trade. And it is still here in various forms!
Today we bring you the Scripture that somebody came into the world and pulled down the dividing wall between races, colours and classes. Jesus Christ came and preached peace to those who were far away and peace to those who were near. Through Jesus Christ nobody is a foreigner and nobody is superior in terms of race, colour or status.
We are all fellow citizens and members of God’s household. We are built on the foundation of the prophets and apostles and Christ himself is the chief cornerstone. We are “being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit” (Eph. 2:17-22). We are one! We must learn to work for each other and not against each other. It is not about colour, it is not about race and it is not about status! There are many white hearts in black bodies just as there are many black hearts in white bodies. Christ came so that we should be judged by the content of our hearts and not by the colour of our skins.
We are one in Christ!
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ bind us together in love as we work together for the brotherhood of humanity. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
