“Repent And Live!”
Large chunks of the African continent have been mortgaged by the leaders through the acquisition of huge foreign debts. The hue and cry around the continent is the conspicuous presence of the Chinese who in some cases are dominating the Africans. Some consider this as the next wave of colonization. The consequences of the huge debts would rest heavily on the shoulders of children who are growing up and even those yet to be born.
In this regard, there is a sense in which children’s teeth will be set on edge for the sour grapes which the fathers are eating.
We would have thought that the time of ignorance is over and that we are wise enough to know that before God a child is on par with the father. “The soul who sins is the one who will die.”
God will not punish children for the sins of their parents.
The wideness of the gates of God’s grace and mercy are limitless. He is not interested in the death of any of us. When you do good you do for yourself and when you do bad you do for yourself. Nobody is going to be responsible for another person’s load.
A man who has been good all his life would die in his sins if when near the point of death he reverted to evil. The bad deeds of his last days will cancel all the good he had done. In the same way a man who had been evil all his life would die in grace if in his last days he reverted to doing good. His good deeds of the last days will cover the evil of his life.
This is not a license to live in evil hoping to do good in your last day. The last day comes like a thief in the night.
My friend, this is the message: “I will judge you, each one according to his ways. Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit…I take no pleasure in the death of anyone…Repent and live!”(Ez.18:1-4&21-24&30-32).
What a merciful and compassionate Father we have; full of grace and abounding in steadfast love! Return to the Lord as in now!
Prayer: Create in me a clean and pure heart, O God, and put a right spirit within me. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
