“Remember!”(Eccl.12:1-8).
“Remember your creator in the days of your youth, before the day of trouble come, when…desire no longer is stirred. Then man goes to his eternal home and mourners go about the streets. Remember him…before the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who made it. Meaningless! Meaningless!…Everything is meaningless!”
The word “remember” appears not less than 1,200 times in the Bible. The Old Testament revolves on “Remembering.”
To remember is “to bring an image or idea from the past into mind.”
When Ecclesiastes says, “remember your creator in the days of your youth…” he kind of implies that there is an innate consciousness of the knowledge of God in all of us. But when we become so caught up in toil, gain, power and pleasure, we tend to forget the Creator of all that we are engrossed in.
There is need to jilt us back to the inescapable truth that there is a Creator who is the source of all that we cherish, albeit that it is meaningless!
Dear friend, the time to remember the Creator is now so that when abysmal days fall on you there would be no reason for you to wish to turn back the hands of time.
The flesh – which is the very reason for which we often have blackout minds and hold no memory for the Creator – is dust and will return to the ground it came from. But the spirit returns to the Giver where man has an eternal home.
When we remember our Creator, we see Christ who is the assurance of our salvation; otherwise “Everything is meaningless!”
Weekend prayer: Holy Spirit drag me away from chasing the shadow and lead me to the Substance. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
