“Remain A Member of Christ’s Family; Put God’s Word Into Practice!”
Today’s text tells how “Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd.” When Jesus was told that his mother and brothers were outside wanting to see him, he replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice. “ (Lk.8:19-21). This sounds a little bit rude for a child to tell the woman who carried him in the womb for nine months. Jesus may have been considering their ungodly motive for wanting to see him. Mark explains that his family “went to take charge of him, for they said, ‘He is out of his mind'”(Mk.3:21). However, it teaches us the lesson that even though family is gold, the fellowship of the new Christian family is something more than gold.
It reminds us of the song, “We are the children of God, born by the Spirit of God into God’s family. Family of God, the holy family…”
It is however not a matter of rejoicing that being a Christian makes you a member of the family of Jesus Christ. The qualification for membership is when you “hear God’s word and put it into practice!”
So therefore, be a member of the family of Jesus Christ by putting God’s word into practice!
Prayer of the week: Holy Spirit help me to remain a member of the family of God by putting the word of God into practice. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working week and have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
