“Put Your Faith In Jesus, He Alone Is From The Father!”(Jn.7:25-31).
There was this father in my village who was known for his outspokenness and because of this he was hated and enemies assailed him from many fronts. One of the things they did to him was that they withdrew his chieftaincy title – something very unusual as chieftaincy is heredtary. He soon tired out the people through his acceptance of whatever challenge they threw at him. During that period a letter had been addressed to him from the magistrate court carrying the name that had been withdrawn from him. A court messenger saw him and followed him with the letter calling out the name that had been withdrawn from him. He kept moving as if he was not hearing the court messenger. The messenger followed and tapped him on the shoulder and said he had been calling him all along. He told the messenger that he didn’t know the messenger was addressing him. The messenger gave him the letter and he refused taking it, saying the name on the letter did not belong to him….
As I said he tired out his detractors and gradually they had no choice but to let sleeping dogs to lie. “Truth is lofty”, when “lofty” means divine, and when truth is divine, nothing can stop it except it is stopped from its origin.
Jesus surprised some people of Jerusalem when he spoke publicly during the Feast of Tabernacles, at a time when the authorities wanted to kill him. They wondered if the authorities had “really concluded that he is the Christ?” Again they had their own worry: “But we know where this man is from; when the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from.”
This is a common mistake that we often make. We claim to know somebody, inside out. But as it is, only God knows anybody inside out! None of us can know the other person the way we claim, because according to the “Johari window” no matter how expansive the public view of someone’s life may appear, there are still portions of the blind, hidden and unknown areas which remains unknown to anybody. Only God knows all the areas.
Jesus replied the people with a biting irony:“Yes, you know me, and you know where I come from. I am not here on my own, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, but I know him because I am from him and he sent me.”
Jesus is the final revelation of God. God revealed himself in the past through many theophanies like, the burning bush, the pillar of cloud and fire, giving Moses a radiant face, etc. But Jesus is the Christ because he is the final revelation of God.
In our time, when the detractors try to seize and kill him for being truthful, let us continue to put our faith in him.
More so, do not claim to know somebody because you know her/his tribe of origin. Only God knows each one fully.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ my faith is in you for I know that you come from the Father. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
