“Present Your Requests To The Lord With Prayer…!”
God has not said the sea in which your boat is sailing won’t be stormy, but he has somebody in your boat who will order the angry sea, “Peace be still!”
God is not a God of good times only. He is also the God of bad times. Prophet Habakkuk said even in times of failed produce, “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will be joyful in God my Savior” (3:17-18).
Paul reinforces this stating, “Rejoice in the Lord always.I will say it again: Rejoice!” Those whose trust is in the Lord should rejoice under all circumstances, including suffering.
When we are joyful in the Lord it reveals itself in our gentleness towards others; and this a particularly so of those of us who are leaders.
We should live like people who are certain that “The Lord is near.” With such knowledge we shouldn’t be anxious about anything. Our worry should be about legitimate cares and concerns for spreading the gospel, unlike self-centred anxiety that is counterproductive.
When there is anxiety we cannot even know how to pray because in christian experience anxiety and prayer are two great opposing forces.
My friend, stop being anxious and cast your burden on the Lord for he cares for you. Rather, “…in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phi.4:4-7).
Oh yes, the peace of God! To have God’s peace within you is not just a psychological state of mind, but an inner tranquillity based on peace with God. It is the peaceful state of the one whose sins are forgiven. God’s peace within you is that inner calm when you commit all your cares to God in prayer and do not worry about them anymore.
God’s peace is like a guard to those who are in Christ Jesus. It extends into your inner being and to your deepest intentions. When this happens, then like Joseph you hold on to your dream knowing that whatever happened, is happening or is going to happen is according to God’s plan. Just keep rejoicing in the Lord.
Weekend prayer: Lord free me from anxiety and let your peace which transcends all understanding guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
